Block or concrete walls are common along the costal areas of the US and throughout Latin America. Tempshield® Reflective Insulation radiant barrier reflects the heat radiating through the concrete wall and reflects it back outside the structure.
Without Tempshield® Reflective Insulation radiant barrier, concrete structures can easily reach oven-like temperatures in the summer months. Block or concrete walls present a challenge when insulating a home or structure. Attaching any type of insulation to the wall is difficult because of potential damage to the integrity of the concrete blocks.
Check the area you are insulating and make any needed repairs before installing TempShield® Reflective Insulation radiant barrier.
Use adhesive caulk or nails to attach furring strips to the wall 16” or 24” on-center. Use small pieces of tape to hold the strips against the wall until the caulk has thoroughly cured.
Using TempShield® Reflective Insulation radiant barrier, simply install between furring strips. Staples should be placed every 3″ to 4.”
